AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Sikh sangat today observed the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhai Dharam Singh Kashtiwal and his brother Bhai Sahib Singh Kashtiwal Babbar here at the premises of Bhai Dharam Singh Khalsa Trust. A large scale religious function was organized in memory of the the Kashtiwal brothers who sacrificed their lives in the Sikh freedom struggle as active members of Babbar Khalsa

Bhai Dharam Singh Khalsa Trust, run by Bibi Sandeep Kaur and Bhai Baljit Singh Khalsa, accommodates and takes care of children and families of Sikh martyrs.

On the morning, Bhog of Sehaj Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was held following which the Trust’s children and other Ragi Jathas performed Gurbani Kirtan.

The Sikh leaders who arrived to pay homage to the great martyrs included Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) executive member Karnail Singh Panjoli, Dal Khalsa spokesman Bhai Kanwarpal Singh, Sarbjit Singh Ghuman, All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president Bhai Karnail Singh Peermohammad, United Akali Dal leader Bhai Mohkam Singh, Jathedar Mohan Singh, Balwinder Singh Chabhal, Sikh Youth of Punjab (SYP) leaders Ranbir Singh, Nobeljit Singh, Navtej Singh Gaggu, Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala chief Bhai Balwant Singh Gopala, Bhai Ranjit Singh, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee activist Bhai Balbir Singh Muchhal, SOPW leader Bhai Parvinder Singh, Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala (Amritsar) chief Dr. Gurjinder Singh, Bhai Rajbir Singh, Akali Dal (Badal) leader Mahabir Singh Sultanwind, Mukhtar Singh etc.

Various speakers jointly said the great martyrs sacrificed even their lives for the goal of achieving a homeland of the nation but our national leaders failed to achieve the goal.

Karnail Singh Panjoli said, “We can claim to be successor of a nation of martyrs but we are so careless that we don’t even observe the days of martyrs.” Appreciating the efforts of Bhai Baljit Singh Khalsa and Bibi Sandeep Kaur, he said they fulfilled their national duty by taking care of families of martyrs.

scale in memory national martyrs across Punjab, so that new generation could be made aware of the goal of martyrs and the struggle could be continued.

Bhai Karnail Singh Peermohammad said the carelessness was more dangerous for Sikhs than RSS, fake Gurus and self styled Saints.

Kanvarpal Singh said even today, in Kashmir, countless families assembled at the park with the photos of their children who was abducted by the police and Indian security forces, and question the government where their children are. He said these  kind of circumstances had been witnessed in Punjab also, so we must initiate such kind of activities.

Pertinently, around 600 families of martyrs were honoured on the occasion by the Panthik leaders.
