COVENTRY, UK—A Coventry man has sealed a part in a new British film which is hitting cinemas nationwide this evening.
Manvir Singh Hayre – known affectionately as Manny – is a well-known member of the West Midlands’ Asian community and has landed the role of an extra in The Guvnors, featuring Harley Sylvestre of Rizzle Kicks and Doug Allen.
Hayre is a father of two and also runs a courier company, Couriers R Us.
To date, Hayre is the only Sikh to appear in a British gangster film and has gone on to appear in other forthcoming productions B33f and Terminator 6 following The Guvnors’ release this week.
Hayre has been at the UK premieres of the film in Birmingham and the Edinburgh Film Festival, with The Guvnors set to start at Showcase Cinema in Coventry tonight.
Hayre said: “I would like to thank God and my parents. I’d also like to thank my kids – Arun and Amrith – for their support during my time away shooting the movie.
“My good friend Barrington Patterson has always kept me on the right path and we trained hard in preparation for the film every morning in the same gym.”
