Call To Submit Your Video for the 1984 Living History Project

NEW YORK, New York, USA—After having suffered immense physical and mental pain and distress, the Sikh community seems to have finally opened up about talking about the wounds caused during the 1984 anti-Sikh pogroms in India. 1984 Living History Project  is a new project that has been collecting testimonies through video recordings of 1984 survivors and their families.

As per its website, the 1984 Living History Project’s mission is to mark the watershed year of 1984 through capturing the stories  of anti-Sikh violence in India, while recognizing the survival and resilience of people.

The organizers have put together a “do-it-yourself easy process”, through which everyone can contribute videos to the project and help build the archive of Living History.

Projects such as the 1984 Living History Project are important as events that took place during the third Sikh genocide are fading in memory for some and the survivors are aging.  These projects will help keep the memories alive for the future generations and help seek justice for the carnage of the Sikh community in India during that time.
