Stylish Victory for Jagmeet Singh (NDP) in Bramalea-Gore-Malton Elections

OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada—Jagmeet Singh has successfully held onto his seat in Bramalea-Gore-Malton, fighting off strong challengers from the Liberal and PC parties.

The NDP’s Singh took home 43.6 per cent of the vote in early results. Former Liberal MPP Kuldip Kular, who lost his seat to Singh in 2011, won 33.8 per cent of the vote. The PC’s Harjit Jaswal won 17.9 per cent, as of 10:38 PM on Election Night.

Singh was the provincial NDP’s first successful foray in Peel region when he won the seat in 2011.

Before being elected, Singh was a defence lawyer. According to his website he is fluent in English, French and Punjabi.

Singh also made Toronto Life’s 2013 Best-Dressed list as one of the most fashionable people in Toronto. According to the article, he likes to pair custom-tailored suits with colourful turbans and pocket squares.

Bramalea-Gore-Malton is home to the largest East Indian community in Canada and includes Pearson International Airport.
