After posting the distorted photograph on Facebook, Deep Kumar who is reportedly living in U.A.E., was identified and beaten by Sikhs. Also Sri Akal Takht Sahib, and Sikh organizations across the world, have taken serious notice of the blasphemy and demanded rigid action against him.
Giani Gurbachan Singh, appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, said, �None can be allowed to distort a photograph of Sri Harmandir Sahib. The holy shrine represents universal brotherhood. People belong to all religions pay obeisance here. The blasphemy committed by Deep Kumar cannot be pardoned. Social media websites like Whats aap and Facebook are good means of communication, but its misuse must be restricted�, he added.
He directed the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to take legal measures against the culprit, and also to ask Sikhs to maintain peace and harmony, so that the accused could be given unprecedented punishment.
As per latest reports, two FIRs have been registered against Deep Kumar in two different police stations.
