Special Train Launched to Visit Panj Takhts

panj-thakt-darshan-620x330CHANDIGHAR, Punjab—Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) has launched Panj Takht Darshan, a special spiritual journey sight seeing train, that from March 21 to 31, 2014, provides an opportunity for Sikh devotees to visit Panj Takht Sahiban, all five of the temporal seats of Sikh religious authority, at one stretch.

IRCTC’s chief regional manager RK Sondh said that the special train for Railway Yatra, Panj Takht Darshan, could be boarded from Jammu, Khatua, Bharoli, Gurdaspur, Batala, Amrtisar, Beas, Kartarpur, Jalandhar, Phagwara Ludhiana, Dhuri, Bathinda, and Delhi.

“The train will reach Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib on March 23, followed by day-long halt at Bidar on March 25, night halt at Patna Sahib on March 27, and another night halt at Bathinda on March 29, before arriving Amritsar via Anandpur Sahib on March 31.” He added that on return journey, the train would leave for Jammu via Batala, Gurdaspur, Bhaoli, and Khatua.

But those who board the train from Beas, Kartarpur, Jalandhar, Phagwara, Ludhiana, Dhuri, Bathinda and Delhi, will be given separate tickets for different trains departing from Amritsar.

He said, “Booking could be done through our online booking portal www.railtourismindia.com. Counter booking options were also available at Jammu Tawi, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and Ludhiana railway stations and also through our regional office in Sector 34, Chandigarh.”

A similar Railway Yatra special train will depart from Chandigarh on April 18.
