NEW DELHI—Controversial Congress leader Jagdish Tytler will be making his return to politics this year.  Former senior Congress leader is set to contest the primary polls for Lok Sabha elections this year from the northeast Delhi constituency.

Congress revoked Tytler’s nomination in 2009 after protests by various communities.

Tytler is responsible for the mass murders of Sikhs in 1984 across Delhi—a fact he continues to deny despite overwhelming evidence.  He is one of the prime accused in various cases of instigating and organizing mobs to kill and rape Sikhs. A Delhi court had earlier granted innocence to Tytler, however last year fresh investigations were ordered in cases against him.

Last year, Tytler was accused of forgery and had to move a Delhi court to seek permission to go abroad.
