Takht Jathedars Nominate Sikh Council UK to Resolve National Issues

AMRITSAR SAHIB—In the meeting of five Sikh Sahiban at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh, Giani Mal Singh, Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh Bhakhivind and Giani Sukhjinder Singh (Harmandir Sahib) were present.  The meeting discussed various issues, including the hunger strike of Bhai Iqbal Singh Bhatti, clash at Takht Sri Patna Sahib, and other issues reported by the Sikh community living worldwide.

Speaking with the media, Giani Gurbachan Singh said that different Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committees in UK and Sikh organizations have constituted one organization named “Sikh Council UK” to solve Sikhs religious and social problems.   The Sikh Council would be able to solve UK related Sikh issues by informing and working with Akal Takht Sahib.

Orders Issued Against Daily Newspaper Pehredar

Singh Sahibs also issued orders asking the Ludhiana based Panthik newspaper Pehredar to explain the harsh words used for Respected Takht Sahib Jathedars and Hazoori Ragi Jathas.  Jathedars have asked the editors to send a written explanatory note to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.  The said ad was published by the newspaper when Bhai Gurbaksh Singh was on hunger strike at Gurdwara Amb Sahib.

Talking about dispute between Takht Sri Patna Sahib Parbhandhak committee and Giani Iqbal Singh, Giani Gurbachan Singh said that five Sikh Sahiban have asked for the video recording of the incident before making a decision.

Giani Gurbachan Singh said that a report has been received from the SGPC and Akal Takht will take appropriate action against the guilty.  He stated that being a Jathedar of a Takht, Giani Iqbal Singh should have not registered a case with the police.
