AMRITSAR SAHIB—The Sikh Youth of Punjab (SYP) has urged the Punjab chief minister not to run away from the probe into global drug racket in case he wishes to keep the image of the party clean.
The newly appointed head of the SYP, Noblejeet Singh said the Congress and the Akali Dal both were responsible for rise in drug abuse in Punjab as successive governments of both the parties have hardly taken any concrete steps to get rid of this menace.
He slammed both the parties for making the drug menace issue a ‘political football’. He said as the finger has been raised towards Punjab NRI affairs minister B S Majithia, Senior Badal should order judicial probe to look into all the aspects of drug trade and dig out he truth.
He said people would like to know whether the allegations were true or fake. “Badal should not shy from the probe as the minister in dock has himself said that “he was open to any impartial probe and even ready to be punished if he had done any wrong”.
Expressing their deep concern over the large-scale corruption in politics and rising drug abuse in Punjab, he said their group believes that it has left demoralizing effects on the lives of youth.
Another senior leader Prabhjot Singh strongly condemned the clash between associates of two religious personalities at Takht Patna Sahib. He urged the Akal Takht to take serious note of it and punish those, who is responsible for creating ruckus at sacred place on the solemn occasion of Gurpurab.
We Sikhs are responsible for drugs and most of Gurdwara management and its members are
heavily involved. SGPC President and Akal Takhat Jathedhar must demand
resignation from religion position.
