Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa in Critical Condition at PGI Hospital in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa was released from Ropar jail and admitted to the Chandigarh based PGI Hospital.  As per other Singhs who have visited him in the hospital, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is in critical condition and under the supervision of a special medical team.  Various tests have been performed and reports are awaited.

There have been rumors that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh might have been tortured in jail or poisoned, however as per our sources, there are no signs of physical torture.  We have confirmed that police did try to force feed him whilst in custody however they have not used any harsh techniques to do so.

Although not confirmed, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh’s kidneys have been affected.  According to our medical expert, this is likely due to his extensive hunger strike.  His overall condition is bad and he is unable to speak properly.

Interestingly, police asked Bhai Gurbasksh Singh’s family to take custody but his lawyer, Advocate S. Amar Singh Chahal refused to do so.  Police wanted the family to take custody and all responsibility and liability for Bhai Gurbaksh Singh.

As per a statement by S. Amar Singh Chahal, release is not possible under the charges imposed upon Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa.  However being India, anything is possible.

Bhai Damandeep Singh’s hunger strike is closing its 4th day and he continues to remain in Chardi Kala.  Various Singhs, especially his friends, continue to safeguard the Gurdwara premises.  Panthik Organizations have denounced a statement by Avtar Makkar (SGPC President) disallowing Sikh Sangat to put up a tent at the Gurdwara.
