Punjabi Film To Depict Journey from 1947 Partition to 1984 Sikh Genocide

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—After a plethora of comedy capers, get set to witness a realistic Punjabi movie titled ‘47 to 84’ that will take over your senses and have you on the edge of your seats from start to the end.  Being directed by Rajiv Sharma who won a national award for his recent punjabi movie, the first poster of the movie was released in the city on November 1st, a date that is very important for the Sikh dynasty.  The media briefing was held at Hotel Shivalikview.

1984riots_car248“This is the day when the Sikh genocide happened during 1984.  So this day marks 29 years since that fateful day,” said Babli Singh, who has produced this movie that will release in theatres in 2014.

Written by Lally Gill, ‘47 to 84’ is a realistic movie that is being shot in Punjab, Chandigarh, New Delhi and the nearby areas.  This movie is going to be a refreshing take on the journey of a child through the traumatic times of the India – Pakistan partition and then when her life was heading to normalcy, the 84 riots happened.  This is a story of a twelve-year-old girl.  She gets to witness the partition at this tender age and then later 1984 riots, shares “Lally Gill”.

Being shot on a limited budget, the movie is sure to create a lot of buzz.  The star cast will have all new faces so that the characters have no resemblance to anyone and lend a realistic feel.  Coming from the stable of Shemaroo that has to its credit some blockbuster movies, the music is also being given by one of the Punjabi industry maestros.

“Being exposed to one comedy after another, the audience has long been waiting for something realistic and different.  With this movie, that wait will come to an end and we are sure that the audience will give us their love and support for ‘47 to 84’,” Babli Singh concluded.

Editor’s Note: Sikh24 is not endoring this video as more needs to be learned about its script and story.
