Historical Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Undergoing Major Renovations

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Major renovation work is being carried out at Gurdwara Sahib Baba Atal Rai, based in Amritsar Sahib.  The Gurdwara sahib located very close to Sri Harmandir Sahib is one of Punjab’s finest architectural marvels.  Built around two centuries ago, the Baba Atal Gurdwara is a touching commemoration of the young life of Baba Atal Rai, the son of Guru Hargobind Sahib. Its nine stories echo his nine years of life before his demise in 1628.

Sikh Sangat from all over the world is said to be contributing to the ongoing renovation seva at the Gurdwara Sahib.  A lot of work has already been done while the management is carrying out additional work to renovate the Gurdwara building.  As per recently shared news, the whole courtyard marble has been replaced and the building has been thoroughly cleaned and whitewashed.

The next part of the project is to replace the old doors that were last installed at the time of Raja Ranjit Singh.  The sevadars have been working hard to mimic the old look of the doors.  These doors have been hand crafted to match the original designs.  Sangat has been donating generously toward the project.  As per a recent statement, contribution can be in the form of silver metal or cash.  Sangat can receive more information about the project and make contributions by going to the following website: Seva Sangat Blog.
