Judges to Investigate Hondh Chillar Sikh Massacre for 6 More Months

Villege Hondh Chiller where 32 Sikhs were Brutally Burned Alive in November 1984

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The terms of the commission comprising of two retired judges, Justice TP Garg and Justice Iqbal Singh, handling the Hondh Chillar case and Mirchpur case respectively has been increased by 6 months.

These judges have been asked to submit their final reports to the  Haryana government by 30 June 2013.

It is doubtful if the 6 month increase in time would help the case as the investigations have been prolonged for more than 2 years without yielding  any effective results.

Justice Iqbal Singh’s  working headquarters are located in Chandigarh whereas Justice Garg is handling the case from Hisar. The delay in investigation is causing hurdles in the process of identifying the culprits and bringing them to justice for murder of Sikhs in 1984.
