SGPC Attends Kumbh Mela after RSS Invitation

SGPC is attending the kumbh mela after being invited by the RSS

—Having faced strong criticism from various Panthik Jathedanbis over its decision to hold a “mega” langar at the Kumbh Mela, SGPC President has stated that the Dharam Parchar Committee was preparing to also hold seminars on Sikh religion at Haridwar.  Various organisations had appealed to Akal Takht seeking SGPC from refraining to take part in the Hindu celebrations.

In a press statement, SGPC member Hardeep Singh alleged that attending the kumbh mela was damaging to the distinct Sikh identity.  He alleged that right-wing Hindu organisations have long argued that Sikhs are part of the wider Hindu faith.  Singh stated that if SGPC takes part in the mela, it is helping RSS spread its philosophy.

On similar terms, the All India Sikh Students Federation president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad also questioned the stance of SGPC President on why he is aligning with right-wing Hindu fascist organisations.  Peer Mohammed stated that number of Gursikhs is diminishing from Punjab while organisations such as SGPC are bluffing to raise awareness of Sikhi at Kumbh Mela.

As per information released by Sikh Siyasat News,  Bhai Peer Mohammed has requested the Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Committee and the Akal Takht Sahib to sack the SGPC President for misusing SGPC funds.  AISSF president has alleged that SGPC’s decision to particupate in the Kumbh Mela is beyond the mandate of SGPC and in violation of Section 142 of the The Sikh Gurdwara Act of 1925. The Section 142 of the Act provides that any member of the Sikh community may file a complaint against any committee or its member on the charges of “abuse of power” or “malfeasance”.

SGPC has continued to face criticism of Sikh organisations for accepting invitation from RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to attend the kumbh mela.  Bhagwat comes from a family of staunch RSS leaders, including his father who was a major RSS figure in Gujarat.  In March 2009, Mohan Bhagwat was chosen as the successor to K. S. Sudarshan for the Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh.

  1. The SGPC is in the POCKET of CONG.[ Brahmical] BADAL GOVT.

    MONEY IS THERE GOD.

BY Putting the Pictures of A SAHEED they are diverting the attention.

AISSF should TAKE Action Legally according to the constitution . Do not let it slip.

    DO NOT MAKE EMPTY THREATS.

  2. RSS- Retarded Self Sevak Sangh the biggest enemy hindus is trying to dilute Hindu identity by inviting non-hindus to Mahakumbha which is one of the most important events for Hindus worldwide.
By inviting SGPC to the mahakumbha, RSS has finally shown it true anti hindu colors and how they can sell the hindu identity by inviting any Tom, Dick and Harry. Down with the RSS!

    • My dear friend, no body in this can dilute hindu identity. Hidu identity is live and let other live. See the books of all the religions of India. All these are nothing but copy and paste from vedas.

Vedas preach Vasudev kutumbhkam. Ekam satya Vipra bahutha vadanti.

  3. Also why are these people listeing to RSS people. Isn’t this RSS organization a fascist group that says non-Hindus are subhumans. One of its leaders even says Muslims are Hindus. It doesn’t accept anyone else’s identity. Obviously something is wrong with those who join hands with such creepy people like the RSS. I hear the RSS does a lot of bad parchar about Sikhi in the villages. They even do stuff like make pictures of the SIkh Gurus faces on the body of a cow and just want to swallow up Sikhism and showed one of the Sikh Gurus in the stomach of the Hindu God Ram to show he gave birth to the Sikh Guru.Who but an enemy of Sikhi and Sikhs would listen to these people when they invite them to go to places?

    • Most of the sikhs in existence today are decendents of people who gave their eldest son to the Sikh guru’s to join the fight to protect Hinduism from Auranzeb’s forcible conversion. Today they have forgotten the very purpose that their ancestor’s joined the Sikh panth and now engage in radicalism. Many of the sikh gurus’s had hindu god names, so many times Shiva, Ram have been mentioned in guru granth saheb, The guru granth saheb has many many poems from Namdev, who was a Hindu saint from Maharastra settled in punjab. But today’s sikhs have deviated from the true sikh values and do not remember the purpose of why their anscestors joined sikhism.

      • Gur Fathe Yogesh, while it is true that Gurbani in Guru Granth Sahib ji came via different people, whom happened to be from different castes and faiths as well. It is also true that these ‘saints’ had renounced the ritualistic practices of their own faiths and became one with God. Hence their Bani, which Sikhs believe is instruction from Akaal Purakh was incorporated in Guru Granth Sahib ji.
On the other hand, Jesus’ name was Yashua, which is actually Hebrew as he was born into a Jewish family. However he is not known as Jew but a Christian today. Mohammed was born into a family who was Pagan, but he is today known as a Muslim.

Also, the names which are found in Guru Granth Sahib ji refers to one God, but not Deities of Brahmin faith. If you ever get a chance, read the full poetry and you will understand the beauty of Guru Sahib’s message. For Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj made it very clear about the Deities. Here is a couplet

‘Mai na ganeseh pritham manau kisan bisan kabhu na dhyaun, kan sune pahcan na tin son, liv lagi mori pag in son, apna jan karo pritpara, tum sahib main kinkar thara das jan dai hath ubaro, hamre sabh bairian sangharo’

Here is an explaination in English

I will not commence writing with the invocation of Ganesh Nor will I meditate on Vishnu or Krishna. They are just historical figures that I hear of but not the objects of my faith. I am inwardly devoted only to Thy feet. O Lord. Considering me to be Thine own, be my protector and saviour, O Lord. Thou art the Master, the Lord Supreme; 1 am but a servant and a slave. Considering me Thy humblest servant, inspire me with the grace of Thy saving hand And destroy all my enemies from the root.

I hope this clears some of the misconceptions.

      • Hinduism believes in one GOD. Rig veda says, ekam satya vipra bahuta vadanti. It means there is only one GOD but leaned people call it by different names. All Gods ands Godess of hinduism and other religions are incarnations of One GOD. This is the belief of hinduism. That is why tru hindu never disgrace any other religion inspite of harsh comments from other religions. Further in hinduism there are various sectors with different belief systems.

Sikh belief is very similar to Arya Samaji belief. only differnce is that, Arya Samaji call them self hindus but sikh represent as separate religion.

    • Jaspreet brother you have got some real incorrect information, Please check your facts and get enlightenend. The word Sikh means the learned one or the one who can understand the real truth, You my brother are very far from the real truth.

    • Sat Sri Akal Jaspreet-ji,

Your post is based on incorrect information and hearsay, especially on the RSS. The terms you refer to in your post are all old, hackneyed propaganda material used by Congress party for their own vested interests.

Request you to kindly validate them yourself and not fall prey to forces who are bent upon destroying any form of unity between Dharmic faiths (Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism & Jainism). We welcome our Sikh brethren to Kumbh Mela. But for our Sikh brethren and their sacrifices, god knows what the Aurangazebs of the world would have done to Hinduism.

  4. It is wrong to go to this mela based on something to do with the constellations. Sikhs don’t beleive in such stuff and the Sikh Gurus prohibited them. Our identity does get eroded when we start going to religious celebrations of people already seeking to destroy our identity. These people SGPC president are nothing but government puppets.
