PARIS, France—The Representative Council of French Sikh, Mr Hardip Singh Jarnail and Mr Ranjit G. Singh, have been received by the Advisor to the President of the Republic, Mr Faouzi Lambadoui, to discuss the diversity of French society.
Ranjit G. Singh, Director of the Representative Council of Sikhs in France, emphasized the difficulties of the French Sikh on the issue of ID picture with Dastaar and discrimination at work for young Sikhs.
During the meeting, it was envisaged to promote and raise awareness of Sikh culture to the French population by creating a Sikh/Penjabi station radio on the national frequency.
The French Sikhs delegation also recalled the strong ties that bind France to the Sikhs. Indeed, the Empire of Maharaja Ranjit Singh had a French Ambassador, General Allard, who has contributed to modernizing the Sikh army. And many Sikhs soldiers have come on the french land to defend and liberate France during the great war.
