Delhi Court to Hear US Citizen’s Testimony Against Jagdish Tytler

Jagdish Tytler

NEW DELHI— The Delhi court has finally decided to hear the plea of Resham Singh, a US Citizen who has alleged Jagdish Tytler had a pivotal role in instigating the 1984 anti-Sikh pogroms.  The court hearing has been set to take place on November 9, in which the testimony of Resham Singh will be heard, along with other arguments.  The court date was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Anuradha Shukla this past Thursday.

According to a statement from Resham Singh, Tytler was played a pivotal role in the attack on Gurdwara Pul Bangash that took place in November 1984 after the killing of Indira Gandhi.  The CBI earlier sought to close the case, despite the testimony of Resham Singh and other witnesses.   Resham Singh had appealed to the CBI to record his statement.

Sikh orgasations, namely Sikhs for Justice and the All India Sikh Student Federation (Peer Mohammed), are arguing that the CBI ignored various testimonies to shield Jagdish Tytler from lawsuits stemming from his involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh pogroms.  S. Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed alleged that this was clear as without recording statements of all witnesses, CBI would have not filed a closure report.
