SGPC Quiet in Rajasthan’s Surajmuni Case

—According to recently received reports from Rajasthan, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is said to be avoiding the murder case of Surajmuni.  The notorious dera chief was killed by three Singhs earlier this week for causing sacrilege to multiple Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

BREAKING NEWS: Recent revelations show SGPC members may have ties to Beadbi

Avtar Singh Makkar, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has kept largely quiet on the issue even though it’s affected the entire Rajasthan Sikh community. Police is behind various key members of the community after the case. Along with being quiet, the Sikh24 team has received complaints that the SGPC is dragging its feet on the issue.

According to received information, a relative of Makkar– whose details are present with Sikh24, was close to the slain Surajmuni and had helped him secure a Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji not long before the beadbi took place.  SGPC’s official member from Rajasthan has also not been available for comment due to his trip to Chandigarh.

Case Updates

Sikh24 has been notified that lawyer Nabh Sing Mann has been hired to defend the three Gursikhs accused of killing.  Aside contributions from local Gursikhs from Rajasthan, S. Simranjit Singh Mann of Shiromani Akali Dal (A) has provided Rs. 1 lakh for the legal defense.

Bhai Jaspal Singh Manjpur, an experienced advocate who is overseeing cases of many Singhs lodged in jail will be visiting Rajasthan tomorrow to provide his assistance in his case.  The main worry of Rajasthan Sikhs is that the police may round up additional people in this case.

Plight of the Three Gursikhs

It is important to mention that three Gursikhs come from simple families.

Bhai Nirmal Singh, aged 37 fromHanumangarh, Rajasthan is a married Gursikh with two kids.  His brother is handicapped, all members of the family are Amritdhari and practicing Gursikhs.

Bhai Gursewak Singh, aged 27 from Dholkot Barnala is lone brother of three sisters, two of which are to be married in a couple of months.

Baba Naginder Singh, from Sehna, Barnala is older in age and more financially secure than the younger Gursikhs.

As mentioned above, the SGPC members have provided no support.  So far, only the Shiromani Akali Dal (A), Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh (Jathedar), Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) and Baba Baljit Singh (Daduwal) have provided support and legal assistance.

It now becomes the responsibility of Gursikhs living worldwide to ensure families of these Gursikhs are able to survive in their absence.  Sikh24 Team is in close contact with Rajasthan Sikhs and more information on how to help the families will be provided in the coming days.
