Chandigarh—The Chandigarh Union Territory is all set to network with the Tihar Jail and facilitate video conferencing of court hearings. It was announced by UT counsel Sanjay Kaushal that from tomorrow onwards, the district courts will allow cyber hearings to take place of court proceedings. He said that all accused being lodged in the Tihar Jail will not have to be produced in the court and as court hearings would take place through video-conferencing.
All jails in the union territory as well as Punjab and Haryana are going to be affected by this technological advancement. Kaushal alleged that video conferencing will eliminate security risks which were apparent when any accused had to be transported to the court.
The UT administration has been pushing more and more to have Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora also face these cyber hearings.
The Times of India had reported in June that any time when Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara or Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora have to be brought to the court, high security has to be ensured while they are out in public. Despite being handcuffed, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora are often heard raising “Khalistan Zindabad” slogans in public. Just recently, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s appearance at the court shocked the entire Indian population when he was seen sporting a t-shirt with the picture of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindrawale and Jathedar Bhai Wadhawa Singh Babbar, leader of the Babbar Khalsa International.
Both members of the Babbar Khalsa organization have complained that they are being denied their basic human rights. At times, family members along with legal advisers are refused meeting times. Bhai Hawara has also blamed the administration for not providing him with proper food and clothing. Such a move may cause further troubles for Bhai Hawara and Bheora.
Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara, leader of Babbar Khalsa India, is being held for the alleged assassination of Punjab Chief Minister Beant Sinh. Beant was instrumental in mass murder, torture and genocide of innocent Sikh civilians. Many argue that if he had not been stopped, his murderous rampage would have continued.
Waheguru…strange that Gadafi and Saddam are openly labelled as tyrants and executed with support by world, but here Jathedar Hawara, is being accused of crime, for the death of a contemporary tyrant?
World should not ignore injustice against Sikhs like Hawara, otherwise, more Gadafis and Saddams will sprout!
