Evacuee Trust Begins Efforts to Release Control of Rawalpindi’s Gurdwara Singh Sabha from Police’s Possession

RAWALPINDI, Western Punjab, Pakistan—The Evacuee Trust Property Board of Pakistan has issued a written order to the Police Department of Western Punjab (Pakistan) to release Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Rawalpindi from the possession of its Special Police Branch. The Gurdwara Singh Sabha along with school & library was constructed by Rai Bahadur Sujan Singh before the partition of India in 1947.

Sharing the development with media, ETPB’s assistant manager Mohammad Asif informed that the building of Gurdwara Sahib was given on lease to the Special Police branch.

He added that the Special Police Branch had promised in written to the ETPB in 1992 that it will vacate the building of Gurdwara Sahib but it is still in possession of the Police.

“As per lease agreement, four canals land of Gurdwara Sahib’s was given on lease to the Police but it has been illegally using the other eight canals of land for parking,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani Sikhs have sought reconstruction of Gurdwara Singh Sabha as there is no Gurdwara Sahib for the Sikhs residing in the vicinity Rawalpindi.

  1. Sikh’s have a lot of history in Pakistan, as well as Pakistan Punjabi Muslim’s and Pakistan’s Punjabi Hindus have in India’s Punjab, We must educate our children in all sides our blood is one.

    It was a shame Punjab was split, We Punjabi have same history, We must find a way SOMEHOW to bring Punjab back together as one.
