Chief Khalsa Diwan Elections: March 13 deadline for submitting nominations

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Election Officer Prof. Baljinder Singh, appointed by the Chief Khalsa Diwan’s executive committee, has fixed March 13 as deadline for submitting nominations for the election of President, Vice-President and Honorary Secretary.

“This is a good opportunity for youth to get involved in the Chief Khalsa Diwan. While it’s likely not possible to shake the internal structure of the organization and take over, this will allow Panthik minded individuals to pave path for future progress,” said Jagtar Singh from Sikh24.

“Chief Khalsa Diwan has a strong Panthik history and it’s sad to see its positive image destroyed by those in power,” he added.

Meanwhile, Prof. Baljinder Singh informed that the nominations for these elections will be accepted till 5 pm of March 14. He added that the nominations will be checked on March 14 and the nominees will be able to withdraw their nominations till March 16.

Prof. Baljinder Singh further informed that the voting for these elections will be held on March 25 from 01:30 pm to 05:00 pm at Chief Khalsa Diwan’s head office in Amritsar Sahib.

On being questioned about medium of voting, he said that voting will be held with ballot papers.

On March 9, senior CKD member S. Santokh Singh Sethi submitted his nomination for the post of Honorary Secretary. At the same time, CKD member Sarabjit Singh also submitted his nomination for the post of Vice-President.

It is pertinent to note here that the CKD had recently faced the ignominious exit of former president Charanjit Chadha and unfortunate demise of his son Inderpreet Chadha (vice president). A chair of honorary secretary is already vacant.
