AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—A video of party meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has gone viral over social media in which party president S. Simranjit Singh Mann can be heard accusing Sarbat Khalsa appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal of supporting Congress in the recently held by-poll in Gurdaspur parliamentary seat.
In video, S. Simranjit Singh Mann said this while raising concern over the declining vote bank of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) in Punjab. He could be heard saying that Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal helped the Congress by organizing Diwans (religious gatherings) in the Gurdaspur area for seven days.
However, Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal has refuted the allegations leveled by S. Simranjit Singh Mann. He has said that he went to his native village in Qadian (Gurdaspur) only for a day and did not preach in favour of Congress. He has further said that someone has conveyed misinformation to S. Simranjit Singh Mann.
It is pertinent to note here that a video of Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal about his comment in favour of Congress leader Harminder Jassi after arrest of Gurmeet Ram Rahim had also gone viral. At that time, Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal had accused the PTC channel of editing the video and changing the word ‘Gappi’ to ‘Jassi’.
Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal had to face sharp criticism also when his photo with Congress affiliated Bajwa clan had gone viral over media.
