SGPC Joins Voice For Investigation Into Extra-Judicial Killings of 21 Sikhs

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Following the disclosure by Captain Amarinder Singh regarding the extra judicial killing of 21 Sikhs by the Indian state in a fake encounter, the SGPC has sought an investigation into the matter.

The Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had tweeted on May 17 that 21 Sikhs were wrongfully killed by the Indian state during the tenure of PM Chandra Shekhar, after the Captain had arranged their surrender.

“I felt betrayed by then PM Chandra Shekhar 21 Khalistani militants I arranged to surrender were killed. Never spoke to him after that”, wrote Captain Amarinder Singh from his twitter account.

Speaking to Sikh24, SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that Captain Amarinder Singh’s disclosure has unearthed an accurate picture of the law & order situation in Punjab at that time. He added that the Indian state committed mass murders of Sikhs at the peak of it’s human rights abuses.

“We want CM Captain Amarinder Singh to order’a thorough probe into this matter and bring responsible perpetrators to justice”, he added.

SGPC’s General Secretary S. Amarjit Singh Chawla, who was once a close companion of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and had endured inhuman torture from the Indian state himself, said that there was a lot to be disclosed about Indian state’s excesses on the Punjab public during the 1980’s and 90’s. He added that the Captain’s disclosure has unearthed the hidden face of Indian state’s approach towards Sikhs.

  1. We must not give up so easily.
We on 31 Oct each year need to knock on Indian courts for an pending case of Genocide-84.
Long. after the infamous Genociders would have left and gone the search for justice must go on.

  2. Is this SGPC good for anything. If we expect any justice will be done then we are dreaming. The SGPC can atleast try to get our history straight and document how many Sikhs were killed since 1984. If nothing else it will be a closure for thousands of families who are still hoping for their loved ones to return.
