Shri Hemkunt Sahib gates to re-open on May 25

DEHRADUN, UT, India—In a press statement shared with Sikh24 on February 28, the Vice-President of Shri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust S. Narinderjit Singh Bindra informed that the gates of Sri Hemkunt Sahib will be opened on May 25 for the glimpse of Sikh devotees.  “The pilgrimage to the seasonal Sikh shrine will continue till October 10.  On May 25, the Holy Scripture of Sri Guru Granth Sahib will be installed at Sri Hemkunt Sahib under the leadership of ‘Punj Piare’ (five beloved ones of Guru Sahib),” the press release states.

In his press note, S. Narinderjit Singh Bindra further informed that the Indian Army will begin the task of sweeping snow from pilgrimage path in the end of April.  

“Sikh devotees will be provided food, accommodation and medical aid like earlier.  We are prepared to welcome more than 200,000 devotees this year,” he added.

“More than 200,000 devotees had paid obeisance at Sri Hemkunt Sahib last year and this year the count may rise due to the construction of new roads and bridges.”

  1. Another cruel joke on Sikhs . As per sikhi so called tirath yatra is forbidden, To top it all to a place where no Guru in there lifetime ever went.
