DUBAI, United Arab Emirates—Guru Nanak Darbar, a Gurdwara Sahib, in Dubai was opened on January 17, 2012. It has since emerged as not only a central location for Sikh worshippers but also a major tourist destination in Dubai. Over four million people have been served langar in the Gurdwara Sahib since its inception.

The Gurdwara Sahib today celebrated it’s 5th anniversary as the congregation was joined by local dignitaries and state visitors.

Serving over 10,000 worshippers and constructed at a cost of $20 million, the large Gurdwara Sahib is located in Jebel Ali, Dubai. The area of 25,400 sq ft on which the site now sits, was donated by Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum for the construction of the building. The community member and local businessman who proposed the Gurdwara remarked, “My dream is to make Guru Nanak Darbar the best, second only to the Golden Temple in Amritsar.”
