Sidhu’s ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’ ready to merge into Congress

navjot-sidhu-pti_650x400_41473365137NEW DELHI—Taking U-turn after holding the Badal-Captain nexus responsible for the plight of Punjab, Navjot Sidhu led ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’ forum has said that it was ready to ally with Congress to oust the Badal clan out of Punjab.  Further speculating the future of his new front, former Patiala MP Navjot Singh Sidhu said that the agenda of ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’ forum was ‘Badal-free Punjab’ and that the forum would consider partnering with any other political party in Punjab to achieve its goal.

Akali rebel MLA Pargat Singh, Independent MLAs Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains underwent a meeting with Navjot Sidhu at his house in New Delhi on September 26.

On being contacted by Sikh24, MLA Pargat Singh informed that the forum was adamant on its stance of not floating a new political party as the latter would help the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal by dividing anti-incumbency vote bank. He added that the talks were on with the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Aam Aadmi Party. Notably, Navjot Sidhu had earlier also fired upon the AAP’s National convener Arvind Kejriwal by terming him an arrogant leader who only wants ‘Yes-men’ around him.

It is pertinent to note here that the analysts of Punjab polity had earlier made it clear that the Navjot Sidhu had launched his political forum ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’ only to gain better negotiating power with other mainstream parties.

Meanwhile, as Sidhu has opened channels to negotiate with Congress, in a statement this past week.  Captain Amarinder Singh has already said that Congress would not take in Navjot Sidhu due to his withering stances.

On September 24, Captain Amarinder Singh said that Sidhu has confused his followers by changing his stance again and again.

“Such leaders are not welcome in Congress,” he said while refuting any possibility of Sidhu’s induction into Congress fold.  Sidhu had earlier stated that the Awaz-e-Punjab will not be contesting the upcoming elections in Punjab.

    • You have a bleak conception of what it really is to be human. In Sikhi one who has had the good karmic fortune of being born human has a golden opportunity to commune with Waheguru and finally after so many countless life cycles be at one with Him. All else including pursuit of power, fame, riches and betraying that divine spark of compassion which resides in all human beings is a waste of precious life.

    • It seems you are quite content with hypocrites and dishonourable men in our polity. You do a disservice to India with such an attitude towards what democracy is supposed to be about – serving the good of the people rather than self serving your own good. But then again you are stalwart supporter of the Badals so how I can I expect you to comprehend why immoral behaviour should be rejected.

  1. One thing about Captain Amrinder Singh is right that this man is “confused” he is jumping ship from ship I wonder if anyone will trust him especially that him and his wife still have linking with BJP.

  2. A brazen opportunist ready to sell himself for political power (and the profits to be made from such a ticket)? Surely unheard of in Indian politics?
