Revolting Executive SGPC Members Not Invited to Meeting with Deputy Chief Minister

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Ending speculations about participation in a meeting called by Sukhbir Badal on October 10 at his residence in Chandigarh, General Secretary of SGPC Sukhdev Singh Bhaur and executive member Karnail Singh Panjoli have clarified that they were not invited for the meeting.

Sukhbir had called a number of senior SGPC and Akali Dal members to convene at his home regarding the growing call for Sarbat Khalsa in November.  Despite their executive status, both Bhaur and Panjoli were deliberately not invited considering their stance on Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s pardon by the appointed Jathedars on behest of the Akali Dal.

Talking with Sikh24 earlier today, the duo said that they are not familiar with any details about the proceedings and decisions of meeting.  “We are still against pardoning Gurmeet Ram Rahim by Takht Jathedars as he did not even appear before the Jathedars,” they told Sikh24.

“Despite the move by Sukhbir to not invite us to the Oct. 10 meeting, we will still attend the meeting of the Executive Committee called by SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar at Fatehgarh Sahib on October 16,” they added.
