Amritsar, India—The Modi led Indian government has elected the President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee, Avtar Singh Makkar, as a Brand Ambassador for a national cleaning campaign named ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiaan’.
The prime minister selected 9 public figures to propagate this campaign. The include celebrity figures such as Baba Ramdev, Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan, amongst others.
Brand ambassadors have now numbered beyond 20, drawn nationally, and increasing with each extra nominee selected.
Avtar Singhs Makkar’s selection may be the impetus required in inspiring the cities of Punjab to begin having a cleaner and environmental approach to looking after the streets therein.
