AMRITSAR SAHIB—Sikh Youth Front today organized a seminar in the village Mararhi Kalan of Tehsil Majitha. The seminar was conducted to discuss the modes to tackle the social evils like drug addiction in the light of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. S. Papalpreet Singh acted as a stage secretary in this seminar.
Addressing the gathering, S. Papalpreet Singh (General Secretary, Sikh Youth Front) said that Drug menace in Punjab is the biggest challenge for the Punjabis. Expressing deep concern over the growing addictions in the State, he said that Akali-BJP government emphasized more on launching alcohol shops than looking after the educational infrastructure in the state.
S. Arwinder Singh Majitha apprised the participants with the cause, effects and solutions of drug addiction. He said that parents needs to take care of their children intensively and save them from the menace of drug addiction.
S. Shamsher Singh Jethuwal acquainted the participants with the current style of social life and its vulnerability to drug addiction. He said that in the current days, the amendment in life style of the youth and its adherence to the real aspects of life values has made the youth prone to fall victim of depression. He said that youth starts taking drugs under burden and intolerable traumas.
S. Surjit Singh Majitha briefly threw light on the methods of de-addiction. He said that medicines for the de-addiction of all types of drugs are available now days.
Students of the ‘Gurmat Awareness’ being run by Sikh Youth Front presented their poetry on this occasion. People from more than 200 of audience shared their confusions with speakers and received satisfactory answers from them.
Tajinder Singh of Akaal Channel (U.K) was honoured by the Sikh Youth Front for his tireless efforts to bring forward the Sikh issues.
Bhai Satinder Singh, Bhai Arshdeep Singh, Baba Davinder Singh, Bhai Harjit Singh etc. were also present on this occasion.
