NEW DELHI, India—After ensuring ban on controversial movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ in Punjab for two months, Sikh activists are taking measures to ensure ban on the film in other states as well. On Thursday, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Rajouri Garden (Delhi) Jarnail Singh and president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) Paramjit Sarna met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal separately to demand a ban on the screening of movie “Nanak Shah Fakir” in Delhi’s cinema halls. Sarna also submitted a memorandum in this regard.

They informed Kejriwal of the feelings of Sikhs against the film explaining that the film is against Sikh religion. They convinced him that the film violated basic principles of Sikh religion and hurt Sikh sentiments. They demanded the film be banned as Sikh religion didn’t permit any individual to play the role of their Gurus and other honourable personalities in Sikh history.

Talking to media persons, Jarnail Singh said Kejriwal listened him patiently and forwarded their representation to the Lieut-Governor of Delhi.

Sarna said that the youth Wing of his party has decided in a meeting held yesterday for holding demonstrations before the Cinema Halls and Multiplexes in Delhi, which are going to show the film.
