GURDASPUR, Punjab—The unique campaign initiated by Navtej Singh Guggu in Batala is spreading in other cities as well.  Guggu had been acquitted in the assassination of so-called Nihang Ajit Poohla in 2008,  His organisation ‘Sab Da Bahla’ has installed boards and posters exposing drug peddlers of the town at key points across Gurdaspur.

Prior to this, on March 19, he had installed such boards in Batala. These boards have forced the police to go on an “overdrive” to arrest the accused. The police are investigating the names of the smugglers named by Guggu, said Batala SSP Inderbir Singh.

Guggu has claimed that since had had spent time in the Gurdaspur jail when he was facing trial in Poohla’s murder case, he knew each and every officer and inmate involved in the smuggling in the prison. However, SSP Gurpreet Singh Toor has claimed that 90 per cent of the smugglers had been nabbed. DSP (Jails) Kulwant Singh Sidhu ruled out any drug trade going on in the prison.
