—Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, a Sikh activist from USA, who has been illegally detained by the Punjab Police has completed his 47th day peacefully protesting against the Punjab and India Government.  Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa was put on a virtual arrest at the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana by the police, where doctors tried to force feed him.  As per a statement by family members of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, he has not willingly accepted any food.

“Bapu Ji has not eaten anything by will however the police and doctors have continued to force feed him,” said Bibi Sarvarinder Kaur, his daughter from Chicago, IL, USA.

“Food pipes have been stitched to Bapu Surat Singh’s forehead, so he doesn’t attempt to remove them.  One can just imagine how much pain that is causing to Bapu ji,” she added.

Bapu Surat Singh is aged 83, however he is committed to the peaceful struggle to seek release of Sikh political prisoners who have been confined in jails despite having completed their sentences over a decade ago.

Bapu Ji’s son, Ravinder Jeet Singh, has been arrested by the police as well.  Ravinder Jeet Singh is a US citizen who had arrived in India merely to take care of his elderly father.  He was arrested without reason and police has not agreed to provide bail.  Sikh24 has learned from its sources that police is pressuring Ravinder Jeet Singh to force his father to end the peaceful protest.
