LEICESTER, UK—A fire at Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Gurdwara in Rosebery Street, Leicester, was handled by fire crews. The fire was reported at 11:15 am earlier today.
Due to the weekend services, hundreds of devotees were present inside and had to be evacuated.
Sevadars thanked the Leicester Fire and Rescue Service for their prompt response to the fire earlier today.
“All Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s Saroops (Sikh scripture treated as our living Guru) are safe,” they stated. “The fire damage is not as bad as feared and no one was hurt. The situation is also not being treated as suspicious.”
