Gippi Grewal’s Music Video “Zaalam” banned by Censor Board

GippyCHANDIGARH, Punjab—After imposing ban on Punjabi movies Saada Haq, Quam De Heere, and others, the Indian censor board has stayed release of noted Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal’s new music video titled ‘Zaalam’.

The music video of the song “Aseen Vakhat Pa Deange Zaalam Sarkaran Nu”, is based on story of a Sikh youth victimized by police.  A police officer is shown as having committed atrocities on Gippy and his sister. After being victimized by the police, Gippy has no option but to pick up weapons and join the armed struggle for human rights.

Gippy’s spokesperson Pushpinder Singh Happy told that he had sent the video to censor board through a Mumbai based professional company for clearance. After the screening committee reviewed the video, they have been told that objectionable contents have been found in the song. “The board has asked us to edit the video as per rules and regulations of censor board. The objections raised by the board are likely to be handed over to them,” said Pushpinder Singh.
