California: Sikh Man Stabbed to Death in Possible Hate Crime

2014-11-17_LABH-SINGHMILPITAS, California—The American Sikh Community is under the shadow of fear and insecurity after the killing of community member Labh Singh In Oxnard City of California.
 
Satnam Singh Chahal said that that Labh Singh, 55, was stabbed to death in Sierra Linda Park when he was walking after dropping his son in the Sierra Linda Elementary School. Though the motive of the murder has yet to be ascertained, it could be a case of hate crime, said Chahal.
 
 A preliminary investigation revealed that he was walking in the park when he was contacted by an unknown number of suspects who stabbed him repeatedly and he later died of his injuries.
 
He was a father to three children, ages 16, 14 and 10. He reportedly worked seven days a week at a convenience store to provide for his family.
 
A $10,000 reward is being offered for information by the local police leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible. According to the police sources the motive for the killing is under investigation, and no arrests have been made. The killing of Labh Singh had evoked the anger of the Sikh community in the United States.
