Guru Granth Sahib Ji Saroops: Meeting Between 8 Gurdwara Sahibs and SES in Canada

BC, Canada—A meeting took place on Monday October 13th between 8 Gurdwara Sahibs and Satnam Education Society (SES). At this meeting the following points were discussed:

1) Ripudaman Singh Malik stated that he and the Satnam Education Society would happily help any Gurdwara Sahib Committee if they wanted to bring Guru Sahib’s Saroops from India.

2) 5 years ago the SGPC and Mr.Malik had discussions about a potential printing press in the Vancouver area, the plans however did not go through.

3) Mr. Malik again clarified that the Satnam Education Society would not bring Saroops from India, rather if other Gurdwara Committees want to bring Saroops and taken on this Seva he and the Satnam Education Society would help them.

4) Mr.Malik requested the 8 Gurdwara Committees present at the meeting to work towards bringing a printing press to the Vancouver area. The Gurdwara Committees did not agree with this notion. They agreed to discuss amongst themselves and the wider Sangat as this issue is a larger issue and the entire Sangat needs to provide input.

5) Moninder Singh Bual stated that in the future no guest or personality should be waited on before retrieving Guru Sahib’s Saroops. The number one priority should be to retrieve Guru Sahib’s Saroops as quickly as possible under the leadership of Panj Pyare.

Many members of Sangat questioned the need to call Manjit GK, not everyone agreed on this issue. Overall this meeting was seen as a step in the right direction after a few weeks of chaos in the lower mainland area, regarding the shipping of 414 Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
