Sikh Federation UK Supports Military Action Against ISIS in Iraq and Syria

2014-06-18_isisLONDON, UK—The follow statement was issued by the Sikh Federation, a UK based Sikh organization, in relation to England’s involvement in military action against ISIS in Iraq and Syria –

A humanitarian crisis is taking place in Iraq with the barbaric acts of ISIS – beheadings, crucifixions, gauging out of eyes, burying people alive and the use of rape as a weapon.

British involvement in military action in Iraq, working with allies, is largely symbolic, but necessary on humanitarian grounds to help victims, and doing nothing is not really an option. A broad coalition exists as ISIS is a global threat to wider international security.

Whilst the situation in Syria is more complicated in our view, there is a strong case for action against ISIS in Syria, especially as the border between Syria and Iraq has virtually disappeared.

However, there is a bigger ideological religious challenge reflected in the disturbing fact that the conflict and the evil ISIS is attracting young Muslims from the UK and other countries.
