SGPC Medical Team Hold Camp in Kashmir for Flood Victims

Relief Camp of SGPCSRINAGAR, Kashmir—A five-member medical team sent by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to the flood-affected areas of Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday organized a camp at Badgam to pass aid to the needy.

As per a press release issued here by public relation section of the Gurdwara body, nearly 100 patients were examined. Medicines were also distributed to them at the camp on the first day.

Daljit Singh Bedi, additional secretary of SGPC, who is camping in Srinagar, said they had formed committees of local residents in various colonies to coordinate with them for the distribution of ration among the flood-hit. He said they had launched the process to assess the loss of life and property in the area.

“SGPC, along with local volunteers, is also working to extricate bodies from the debris of houses that collapsed during the floods,” he added.

The SGPC on Wednesday brought another batch of 14 survivors from Jammu and Kashmir. These survivors landed at the Amritsar airport. SGPC officials said they were trying to rescue the maximum number of persons, but they could manage only 14 air tickets.
