NEW DELHI—Senior Advocate of Delhi High Court and member of the Aam Aadmi Party, S. HS Phoolka has written a letter to the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Badal asking him to work on SIT for 1984 Sikh genocide cases.

Phoolka has requested Sukhbir to work with the Centre Government to establish a Special Investigative Court so that killers of the Sikhs could be brought to justice. Phoolka reminded the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister that the NDA Government was a close ally of the Akali Dal, and therefore both parties should come true to their promises they made to the Sikhs before the Lok Sabha elections.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (B) had stated that after coming into power in Centre, an SIT would be established to take charge of various pending cases against alleged culprits of 1984 pogroms. HS Phoolka alleged that after the elections were over, no work has been done on the SIT.

Phoolka stated that this was an important matter as the eye witnesses were turning old. He said it was important to record their statements, and also stated that it seems that the Akali Dal has now forgotten the importance of this issue.
