Sirhind Fateh March taken out from Chapparchiri to Fatehgarh Sahib

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab—A large religious procession named Sirhind Fateh March, commemorated to the historic day of winning Sirhind by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, was taken out from Gurdwara Chapparchiri to Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on May 12. Organized under the patronage of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and leadership of Punj Piare (five beloved ones of Guru Sahib), the religious procession witnessed participation of various Nihang Singh outfits, religious societies, bands and gatka parties.

An Akhand Path Sahib, which was laid on May 10 for this religious procession, was culminated before the start of religious procession. Following it, raagi jatha of Bhai Tarlok Singh delighted the Sikh sangat with religious discourse and dhadi jatha of Bhai Malkit Singh addressed the history of winning Sirhind by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.

Addressing the Sikh masses on this occasion, the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said that “Sirhind Fateh Diwas” holds an important place in Sikh history and the march taken out every year to mark this historic day. He appreciated attendance by the Sikh organizations in the event.
