BREAKING: Petition Filed in High Court to Ban Film ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’

Nanak Shah Fakir: Listen to what this Sikh Has to Say About the MovieCHANDIGARH, Punjab—Bringing new twist in the controversy on the anti-Sikh Hindi movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’, Satpal Singh (Ludhiana) has filed a petition in the Punjab & Haryana High Court seeking ban on the screening of the film.  He terms the film as “against the Sikh tenets” and stated that it hurts the sentiments of the Sikhs.

Satpal Singh’s legal counsel advocate Ranjan Lakhanpal said the case is likely to be listed for hearing tomorrow.

It is worth mentioning that various Sikhs have expressed their concern over the screening of the film as it is blasphemy against Sikh religion. As per Sikh tenets, personification of Sikh Gurus is not allowed and nor can animation character of Guru Sahib be created. The film is slated to be released on April 17.
