First Time After Lifting of COVID-19 Lockdown, Thousands Attend 487th Parkash Purab at Sri Harmandir Sahib With Fervor

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On the eve of the 487th Parkash Purab of fourth Sikh master Guru Ram Das Ji, hundreds of thousands of devotees thronged to the holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib on November 3. For the first time after the lockdown was lifted, such a huge gathering was witnessed at the holiest Sikh shrine, Sri Harmandir Sahib.

The devotees had to wait for a long time in large queues to get their turn for paying obeisance inside sanctum sanctorum.

The devotees took a dip in the holy Sarovar to receive blessings of Guru Sahib and partook langar in the world’s largest community kitchen situated within Sri Harmandir Sahib complex.

A special manifestation of rare and precious Sikh artifacts was held inside sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, and Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Ji 08:30 am to 12:00 pm.  

Like every year, a special religious event was organized at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in which renowned Raagis, Dhadis, Kathavbachaks, Kavishars like Giani Jaswant Singh, Bhai Pinderpal Singh, etc. addressed the religious discourse highlighting life values and path enlightened by Guru Sahib for the well being of humanity.

The whole Sri Darbar Sahib premises were beautified with colored lights, and special firework was performed from three locations of Sri Darbar Sahib premises following the recitation of Rehraas Sahib.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian public via a tweet on this auspicious day while highlighting the values taught by Guru Ram Dass Ji.

“Sri Guru Ramdas Ji placed great emphasis on serving others, ending all forms of inequality and discrimination. His quest for a kind and harmonious society inspires us all. Greetings on the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji,” tweeted Modi.
