Missing 328 Saroops: Sikh activists lock down SGPC headquarters

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On October 1, several Sikh activists locked the main entrance gate of SGPC’s headquarters in Sri Darbar Sahib complex while seeking FIR against the persons responsible for the missing 328 saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Notably, these Sikh activists have been staging a protest within Sri Darbar Sahib complex since September 14 but the SGPC is adamant to defend the culprits responsible for missing 328 saroops.

Interacting with media on occasion, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee’s leader Sukhjit Singh Khose said the lock will not be opened until the SGPC lodges an FIR against those responsible for the missing 328 saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from SGPC’s publishing house at Gurdwara Sri Ramsar Sahib.

It is pertinent to note here that 328 saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji have been found missing from the SGPC publishing house. The whole discrepancy had come to the fore after the retirement of an assistant supervisor Kanwaljit Singh in June this year and then later its probe by an Akal Takht appointed committee.

Unfortunately, the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh addressed a very minute quantum of punishment to the SGPC officials with an intention to help them in burying the issue while giving an eyewash to the Sikh sangat.

However, the SGPC brigade has not been able to satisfy the outraged Sikh masses due to which the Sikh activists have been continuously staging a protest inside Sri Darbar Sahib complex since September 14.

On September 15, SGPC had tried to disperse the protesters through violent means by letting its hooligans attack peacefully protesting Sikh activists but all went in vain.
