Shiromani Khalsa Dal slams Khawaja Rafique for using derogatory language against Maharaja Ranjit Singh

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Taking strong notice of the Pakistan’s former minister Khawaja Saad Rafique’s statement dubbing Maharaja Ranjit Singh as a profligate and dacoit, the Shiromani Khalsa Dal has said that Khawaja Saad Rafique should immediately tender apology for making attempts to malign image of the world’s best ruler.

Shiromani Khalsa Dal’s president Swarn Singh Khalsa has said that Khwaja Saad Rafique was misleading Muslim community of Pakistani Punjab by leveling baseless allegations of   desecrating and looting mosques on Maharaja Ranjit Singh. “The greatness of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s regime is evident in world’s history of that era,” he said.

Citing a survey carried out by the BBC earlier this year, Khalsa said that Khawaja needs to know that Maharaja Ranjit Singh has been accepted as ‘World’s Best Ruler’ whose regime outshined the regimes of American President Abraham Lincoln, UK’s Queen Elizabeth, Amílcar Cabral and Winston Churchill.

“Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the first ruler who saved the territory of Punjab from getting looted by the foreign invaders, but still Khawaja Saad Rafique is needlessly spewing venom against him,” he said.

Swarn Singh Khalsa further said that Maharaja Ranjit Singh was having ministers from all religions and nobody can forget his generosity towards other religions.
