SAD (Badal) constitutes committee to look after the interests of UP Sikh farmers facing eviction

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) has constituted a three member committee to take the up the issue of snatching land from Uttar Pradesh Sikh farmers with Yogi Adityanath led UP government. Akali parliamentarians Balwinder Singh Bhundarh, Naresh Kumar Gujral and former parliamentarian Prem Singh Chandumajra have been appointed in this committee.

Beside it, Prem Singh Chandumajra has said that the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) will also approach the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure that the Sikh farmers weren’t subjected to any injustice. “The SAD expresses solidarity with the affected farmers, most of whom had settled in Uttar Pradesh after being displaced during the Partition in 1947,” he said.

It is pertinent to note here that the BJP led UP government is in action to snatch hard-earned arable land from the Sikh farmers who have been living in the state for the last three generations. Large police parties are being sent to displace these Sikh farmers from about 17 villages of districts Rampur, Bijnaur and Lakhimpur.
