AMRTSAR: 51 Hazoor Sahib pilgrims discharged from Guru Ram Dass Hospital

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—51 out of the total 71 Hazoor Sahib pilgrims admitted in SGPC run Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital have been discharged today. Notably, the Punjab government had declared hundreds of Sikh pilgrims coronavirus positive but now they have tested negative. 

Dr. AP Singh, Dean, Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar said that “On May 5, Punjab Government had referred 71 COVID positive patients to Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital for treatment. On May 13, samples of these 71 patients were sent to Govt. Medical College, Amritsar. Out of 71 patients 51 patients tested negative & 7 patients tested positive for the coronavirus and the result of 13 patients is still pending,” informed Dr. AP Singh.

Dr. AP Singh further informed that the rest of the positive patients are being treated diligently by the Specialist Doctors/ Para-Medical staff of the hospital and are taught the ways to fight the disease. “Along with the treatment, special care is being taken for their living, eating, drinking and mental health etc.s, so that they do not suffer any mental distress while living in isolation during the treatment,” he added. 

SGPC’s senior vice president Rajinder Singh Mehta and Chief Secretary Dr. Roop Singh were also present at that time. They hailed the tireless work of the Medical/ Para-medical staff of the hospital who are busy day and night in treating the corona patients and thanked them for their commitment. They said that we all pray to God for the speedy recovery of the patients.
