Sacrilege in Amritsar: Four arrested for throwing Gutka Sahibs in garbage

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—An extremely unfortunate incident of throwing sacred Gutka Sahibs, portraits of Guru Sahibans and other religious articles has come to fore in Kot Khalsa area of Amritsar. The Amritsar police have arrested four persons for committing this sacrilege who are resident of Adarsh Nagar.

Interacting with media, ACP Narinder Singh informed that an FIR has been registered under concerned sections of Indian Penal Code. “We are probing the entire incident deeply and will seek remand of these accused for interrogation,” he added.

The accused have been identified as Mangal Singh, Tejinder Singh, Parminder Singh and Nishan Singh.

Sri Harmandir Sahib’s additional manager Rajinder Singh Ruby informed that an anonymous couple informed him about this sacrilege at around 10 am after which he and other staff members reached on the spot.

He informed that the accused threw a bag containing five Gutka Sahibs and one Sainchi in garbage but the Municipal Corporation’s employee Gurdeep Singh succeeded in shunting it out while dropping the garbage at dump spot on Jhabal road and handed it over to Gurdwara Singh Sabha situated Guru Nanakpura near Putlighar.
