338th birthday of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji celebrated with full religious fervor in Amritsar

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The 338th birthday of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji was celebrated today with full religious fervor at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Ji in Amritsar. Thousands of Sikh devotees thronged to the historic Sikh shrine to receive blessings on this occasion.

Following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, renowned Raagi, Dhadi and Kavishar Jathas addressed religious discourse to the devotees in a specially held Gurmat Samagam.

An Amrit Sanchaar program was also held on this occasion besides a blood donation camp.

Religious procession was also taken out from Sri Akal Takht Sahib on January 25

On January 25, the SGPC took out a religious procession from Sri Akal Takht Sahib on the eve of the 338th birthday of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji, which was begun after performing Ardas.

During this, Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh honored Panj Piyare Sahiban, Nishanchi and Nagarchi Singhs by presenting them Siropas.

In the beginning, Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh placed sacred saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the golden palanquin. He also performed the service of Chaur Sahib for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji during Nagar Kirtan.

Representatives of different religious societies and committees were also present in large numbers in this religious procession. Students from schools, colleges, Gatka and Band parties also took part in this Nagar Kirtan. During this, the devotees served the sangat accompanying religious procession by serving tea, water and fruits.

The religious procession started from Sri Akal Takht Sahib and concluded at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Chattiwind Gate after traversing through Ghanta Ghar Chowk, Jalian Wala Bagh, Lakad Mandi, Sultanwind Gate, Water Tank, Swarn house,Golden Cloth Market, Sultanwind Road, Tej Nagar Chowk, Bazar Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Kot Mahna Singh.

Senior vice president Rajinder Singh Mehta and chief secretary of SGPC Dr. Roop Singh were also present at this occasion with others.
