SGPC seeks immediate indictment of 1984 Sikh genocide culprits

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has said that the massacre of Sikhs carried out in Delhi and other cities during November-1984 was a grave violation of human rights and all the culprits behind this should be addressed strict punishments.

Talking about the recent report submitted by SIT head Justice S N Dhingra, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has said that Sikh passengers were killed on different stations after dragging out of the trains in 1984 and it is very unfortunate  that nobody tried to save the Sikhs. He further said that report given by the Justice Dhingra has made it clear that Sikh were massacred at five railway stations in Delhi on November 1 and 2 in 1984.

“It has been also proved that Police cops did not perform their duty and no FIR was registered regarding this. Apart from this, many complaints were added in one FIR,” he said while demanding immediate indictment of guilty culprits.

Longowal said that it was very unfortunate that the Sikhs, who made 85% sacrifices for the independence of India, are struggling for justice even after 35 years. “There should not be any delay in delivering strict punishment to the culprits behind the Sikh massacre,” he added.
