Ahead of Gurpurab, thousands throng to Sultanpur Lodhi; Daily footfall crossed mark of 1,00,000 on November 3

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Ahead of the 550th birthday celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, thousands of devotees from all over the world are continuously thronging to Sultanpur Lodhi to receive blessings of Guru Sahib. On November 3, this footfall of devotees crossed the mark of 1,00,000 despite a large scale commemoratory function in village Dehra Sahib.  

It is learnt that around 1,00,000 volunteers affiliated with different NGOs and Sikh societies are working in Sultanpur Lodhi to prepare and serve hot food to the devotees.

A variety of modern eatables like pizzas, burgers, manchurian etc. are also being served in langars.

At a langar hall being run by Baba Narinder Singh (Hazoor Sahib wale) on 13 acres of land, professional hired by the organizers have been working round the clock to train and work along with the volunteers to bake the base of pizzas and crown them with toppings. Nescafe coffee and cold drinks are also on the menu.

Terming it as sewa, a representative of a multi-national company told the media that over 25,000 pizzas and burgers are being daily served at the fast-food hall.

“We plan to serve over 5,00,000 pizzas till November 12,” said Baba Darshan Singh, a volunteer.
