3 sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib catches fire near Tarn Taran

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Three sacred saroops of living eternal Sikh master Guru Granth Sahib Ji got burnt in a fire originated from a short-circuit in electric wiring of a Gurdwara Sahib in village Bhullar (near Tarn Taran) on September 24. Beside it, 20 Gutka Sahibs also got burnt in this unfortunate incident.

SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has expressed grief over this unfortunate incident. He has said that is a matter of concern that such incidents are continuously occurring despite repeated appeals by the SGPC and Akal Takht to switch on electrical appliances only at the time of use.

“The secretary of SGPC’s Dharam Prachaar Committee has been directed to completely probe the incident and bring forth the reality,” he informed.

Longowal has appealed the Gurdwara management committees to become vigilant and switch on the electric appliances only at the time of need.
